Our Ristorante Firenze Tiramisu September Recipe: A classic coffee-flavored dessert from Italy.
12 egg yolks
2 cups sugar, granulated
2 1/2 cups mascarpone cheese
3 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
6 packs lady fingers
2 cups cold, day-old coffee
1 cup coffee liqueur
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
DIRECTIONS: Combine egg yolks and sugar in the top of a double boiler, over boiling water. Reduce heat to low, and cook for about 10 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and whip yolks until thick and lemon colored.
Add Mascarpone to whipped yolks, beat until combined.
In a separate bowl, whip cream to stiff peaks.
Gently fold the whipped cream in the mascarpone-egg mixture and set aside.
Mix the cold coffee with the coffee liquor. Dip the lady fingers into the mixture just long enough to get them wet, do not soak them!
Arrange the lady fingers in the bottom of a 9 inch square baking dish (or container similarly sized).
Spoon 1/3 of the mascarpone cream filling over the lady fingers; dust with cocoa powder.
Repeat process of layering lady fingers, cream, and cocoa. Will make 3 layers.
Refrigerate 4 hours or overnight.
Dust with cocoa before serving
